I posted this week's answer earlier this morning but I almost forgot to post it on here! A lot of the answers are going to link out to my posts on Mastodon, just because of the nature of the answers. But thankfully, unlike on Bluesky or Twitter, if you don't have an account, you can still see the posts \ o / (I'll try to see if maybe later I can edit the links to go to the pieces themselves on my site.
Pent Up Games over on comicscamp.club has created a weekly prompt activity for those who dabble in le creation of le erotique :v You can see the post and prompts here. I've decided to also put them up here. One reason is that my responses would make for a very large thread on my second Masto account, so I'm saving myself grief by copy/pasting my responses here.

(another reason is that it'll give me an excuse to dust this off...haven't posted in ages!)

All my answers are for my story, how can Heaven love me, which you can read a bit about here.

Here's my response on Masto, and now copied here for your reading pleasure, under the cut.
( Is sexuality suppressed or celebrated in your setting? But before that, which was today lol, it was Perfume of the Timeless by Nightwish. Specifically this mix, because it's the only mix that's listenable LMAO. Long story short, they released a mix that even experts say it's so muddy, it's a miracle we can make out the chorus. Supposedly, it's because they recorded in Dolby Atmos first, which means that the only place online you can listen to it is on Apple Music. (Hoooraaaaay...) That said, Youtube compressed the mix, and folks say it sounds much better on Apple Music. Cool. Hoooraaaaay....

Now, supposedly part dos, the CD will have this same mix but I'm not buying it (as most CDs I want from overseas are just expensive!) and from what I can tell...seems like you will basically still need an Atmos-friendly headphones or stereo system to listen to it "properly?" TUOMAS, WATER U DOIN

(all on reddit but one / two / three )

The channel up there put it up and I kinda feel bad because their channel is meant for instrumentals which are very well done...but this is now the highest-viewed video on their channel ;-; (I downloaded it though, because I wanted a copy.)

Very long digression aside--I tend to have songs on repeat for the longest, so those two are the current ones. I have also been listening lately to black noise to better focus on my work, so a lot of that too.

📺 Currently (reading/playing)watching: oh boy, this is hard because I've been jumping all over the place...you make guesses as to why lol, but here's some sort of list

Reading: still trying to get back to Velvet Underground by Michael Leigh, but I finished reading Monster Culture (Seven These) by Jeffrey Jerome Cohen. I downloaded the pdf here (idk who rachel scoggins is but if you ever google your name, sorry and also, your uni site is still up!). It's pretty easy read, though I expected more cultural analysis and a bit more meat. BUT it is still pretty good because it ends up being a kind of "formula" in the same vein as Campbell's The Hero's Journey.

Other than that, man, I wish I read for fun these days. I mean, I have stuff waiting to read for fun, but all the research is priority...for now. Unless you count comics, in which case, I did simply...re-read some volumes of Astro Boy this week. XD Oops. I have an issue in that I'm watching more than I'm reading nowadays, though. Speaking of watching:

Watching: Why We Fall for Monsters by Princess Weekes ended up being the monster analysis that "filled in" the gap with Cohen's essay above. Both things were read/watched for the game jam I'm hoping to join/finish a game for properly, which also means I get to say that I've mainly been watching (and/or reading) Renpy tutorials! Long story short, Renpy ended up being way easier for me than I thought but I also wonder if that's because I've had to code websites for ages in different ways (including coding with Tumblr themes), so it wasn't as big a knowledge gap as I thought it would? Or maybe Renpy just has better tutorials made by people who actually are able to switch to artist brain instead of complain about Why People Don't Get This Really Easy Python Trick.

I am wondering if to make a "dev blog" thing but as a quick recommendation, any of Visual Novel Design's videos are really good. I love how he does not talk down to you, but instead is very honest about difficulty levels while also being supportive, and showing you how it can be done for different levels. There's something about his energy that is the good kind of teaching o/

Other than that, I finished watching Bravern by the GOAT Masami Obari and staff, still watching Dragula, watched The Angry Black Girl and Her Monster, and watched a couple of videos from a mainly mecha Youtuber. The videos in question were already in my to watch list, and since I was designing Oriana these days (who is Astemar's mecha), I decided to just finally watch those. I'm not mentioning the youtuber by name because one, he name-searches himself and two, he's the kind of guy whose videos feel and are well-researched, but have some space for improvement, but generally knowledgeable--and then you go to his twitter and go "oh! you're that kinda guy!"

(*smokes* We all know that kinda guy.)

That said, here are the videos I watched: Kaiju, Mecha, and Beautiful Women (a video about another GOAT, Toshihiro Hirano!), The Ultimate Lesbian Horror Anime! (shout-out to fellow Iczer folks who may have winced at that title for clickbait reasons), The REAL History of 70s SUPER Robots (in-depth history involving Go Nagai, Toei's mecha shows, and part of the mecha boom that followed) and The Manga about a Dog Wife (this one has nothing to do with mecha, I thought it was cute and I might have to look for the manga later).

Playing: The House on Fata Morgana. Was gifted by a friend and man...really good. (I have more to say, I'm just getting tired writing a lot LMAO)

🌶️ Sweet/Savory/Spicy?: I like food.

(honestly, spicy is probably the thing I usually don't like, and I have too much of a sweet tooth, haha)

❤️ Relationship status: my children take up a lot of my time as a single parent

🤩 Current obsession: once again, forever and always, my children. though man, I wish Pumpkin Scissors had a bigger fandom outside of Japan...that was a good obsession and it was great to hang out with JP fans (and find folks like naivette and citrodorks !) but after a while, I feel like I'm bothering them with a slight language barrier, you know? Doesn't help that some JP fans have taken a break from socmed, so we're all kinda "split."

Tagging:
uhhhhhh don't got enough of people on here to even tag, so if you see this, you're tagged and also citrodorks naivette serpentinemalign

comments

Last time I wrote was in December 2023...

To be fair, I generally have no idea what to blog about, if I've already gabbed about it over on Fedi lol. Even right now, I'm making plans to update my newsletter and I'm here going, I feel like I'm gonna repeat half of what I say over there. Which probably shouldn't be an issue, not everyone follows this and not everyone follows that--but I get bored of repeating myself XD

So...idk. I was actually thinking I could write up some reviews of books, because for Magnus and Irène (and slightly Astemar, later), I've been diving into the leather world and as such, gotten a bunch of books, both from my searches and from recommendations. I...completely forgot why I made the choice to have them be leather folk, might be on my Fedi somewhere, but it was probably from plotting their music side of the story, as they're creators of an indie label that skews more towards goth/punk/slight metal and mulling on the leather connection in some of those communities. (If you need an example, the usual one is Rob Halford with Judas Priest.)

comments

Today I learned there's an actual word count limit for the subject. Truly, I keep making records for my length lol

Anyway, I was going to "toot" about this on fedi until I realized it's probably better to do it as a blog. This is just me rambling, so might as well do it in an easy to read format XD

I'm always ride or die comics and today while thinking about the AAW, it occurred to me to make a webring but for comics only. Even now, in the newfangled era (not really) of pilfering comics for film ideas (I mean, uh, 50/50 adapt genuinely a comic vs just stealing), comics are still treated as the lowbrow entertainment they were created as. I'm not gonna rant, not really saying that to rant but more because I sometimes think of ways to give back to the medium without breaking my wallet. I also am someone who loves lists and preservation efforts, and while wistfully thinking again about webcomics history<strike> that everyone thinks was invented in 2015</strike>, I realized that I don't think I ever found a webring or directory for nsfw comics? Always possible I just didn't look in the right places, especially when I was looking elsewhere for other stuff in the first place. But I like lists of all sorts, even for genres I don't like--and yes nsfw isn't a genre, but bare with me and the way directories listed genres--and it would be nice to have "everyone" in one place. Sometimes I see comics that I know other people would love and it would be nice if they "found" each other--or for selfish reasons, know who's who in the space LOL

Not to impede the AAW, but I guess to add to it? (honestly I remembered about the AAW *after* thinking about the directory idea and I'M IN IT LMAO, my poor brain)

The problem I immediately is probably an easy one to have as a problem, in the grand scheme of things. Well, besides changing from webring to directory, since the latter is easier to maintain.

It's who to accept.

( it's a matter of principle! )

comments

I've been meaning to write this for ages, but since I've been on Aethy for the past month or two and seeing more people into this....what do we call it nowadays, kink? Trope? Genre? (LOL) I don't know how to refer to it for the sake of my following stream of consciousness entry, but I've thought about this a lot from the detached side and the personal side.

As the title on the tin can says, I am the result of an age gap relationship. My mother was born when my father was 22 years old. There's actually an additional detail on the surface that makes their relationship and both sides of the family really funny, but I won't say it for security reasons. The year difference I can say, because I'm not the only one in that boat.

Before we continue: no, this isn't one of those "you're doing this fantasy thing bad"--and really, I shouldn't have worded it as 'fantasy' because IRL, there are lots of age gap relationships that work out the way it's romanticized. I guess...I actually talked about this on Aethy recently (or rather, said it to my followers only oops, so I can't link it) but I think I have a problem with certain kinks or tropes in that...I am a logic-oriented person with my stories. It's not that I cannot do the fantastical or whimsical--dadaism is a hyper-fixation for a reason. But dadaism has a structure to it, despite being structureless by nature. (Any dadaist will give you a different reason on how, but I'm a Magic Bishop kinda fan, so...) But--even with the absurd, I need for it to make sense to ME or else I'm lost myself, and I feel like I've lost the reader as well.

Partly, this is because, in other spaces, I've been held to the fire as to why this, and why did this character do this, and why this fantastical thing happened. If you read that and go "that don't seem like bad questions," they're not until they're asked of you despite your work answering said questions, it's just that people just don't read (or are doing it on purpose at this rate)--OR that for some odd reason, they're capable of suspending disbelief for other works but not for yours. Never for you, in my case, but this is also why I try to make things clear while leaving space for the reader to connect the dots on their own. But it seems nowadays you can't write like that, because good god...the reading comprehension and fun in connecting the dots can't have lowered that much? (That or maybe I have overestimated the audience. A real Howard Chaykin moment. Or maybe I'm a bad writer who overestimates my own skills lol.) There's art pieces of mine where I literally put down "make up your own interpretation" and sometimes people think I'm asking them to justify my own creation. I remember one friend constantly asking me what does one piece mean and me having to end it with "good lord, I told you you can literally make anything up, I'm not lying LMAO." It seems as if you don't hand-hold the reader, your work is considered bad writing/art. And if that's the case, I think a good chunk of the literary corpus of centuries past is toast.

( Onwards and upwards to the age vomit )

comments

I did this last night and uh, today I woke up to "well I don't hate how anyone looks...mostly" XD Designs for Max and Magnus have been really hard to pin down with my art style. I mean...look at them. Absolutely not how they are in my head, but alas my art style never matches XD Some of the answers are dumb but I wanted to do it that way.

This is based on the version found in the prequel to Something in the Air, titled how can Heaven love me. (Thus why the ages, for one, are different than listed my site.) Been working a lot on it, including the eventual site section for it. Funny how a random story for SSBB ended up giving me more fuel to hopefully finish a giant thing for them. (And an accidental prequel...)

Imagine how long it's been since I saved this that the original ship credit changed twitters!
I keep wanting to write and then getting too tired to write, and then forgetting about what I could have written!

But here's some news I keep forgetting to post about! (I need to update the website too, but later lol -- I keep wanting to consider redesigning it for a V.2 design version, but so busy with other work...broken record.)

I managed to finish a 16 pg for Shousetsu Bang Bang's 100th issue! I did this comic ahead of time and I still had to pull two all nighters to finish it for the deadline, because of course all my well-laid plans never turn out well. Some parts of it I hate how they look due to that, but oh well. I don't really want to retouch it unless idk I have to.

The story I used was one I came up on a whim, when thinking about vampire stories, what could still be done with them, what new you could do with the old tropes...and then thinking about how modern vampire stories work, and then thinking about how to do it with a female protag--I tend to do female protag stories usually, so it's natural to me, but of course, then that means the stories end up being lesbians! XD (That sounds like I hate it, but I don't. It's more like, wow what irony!) Which of course brings it a different take already. This will lose me cool points but I have yet to read Carmilla....Which means I probably could end up doing something that was already done, but oh well.

I digress! I was thinking about the stories about feudal and medieval lords wanting tithes and taxes given to them, and the "divine" right they kept forcing onto people, a la sacrifice from the common people. (And stretching that to human bodies, because of course.) So I wondered if that could then be transplanted onto giving a "sacrifice" to vampires in the area to stave them off from the rest of society...then further refined into, well, lesbian vampire and innocent girls "sacrificed" for her :v With the whole ambiguity behind those air quotes.

I first thought of doing this story for an erotic horror anthology but the organizers not only never got back to people on whether they were accepted or not, they just straight up poofed on us. Rather, they kept paying attention to other things, which is fine but c'mon, if you're organizing something, try to remember to give one measly update, even if it's to say "not doing this, sorry." XD

So their loss, S2B2's win?

I'll link the story here now, and I leave you with the creator comments I left over there!

( Creator comments! )

comments

I just realized I hadn't updated this in ages.

In my flimsy defense, I have been functioning on a fugue state for so long, that by the time I think of something I could talk about -- I end being tired, go to bed, wake up and then go "nah, nobody cares" and never post it--

OR it ends up being a full-fledged rant and I guess even Dreamwidth's like "nah, we gotta intervene" and ends up crashing by the time I click preview to post, and has deleted everything I just wrote up when it starts working again.

If I could just run away to a secluded area where I have no access except to at least Roku and Protonmail (every other Internet-isms blocked, especially SM) and some nice TV channels, I could have finished two graphic novels by now.

(Probably not, because I like working with a small real life group more, almost secluded, but at least there would be a fighting chance.)

I'm gonna start ranting too much again, so just quick things:
( Anthologies and some nice SITA uniform designs (for now) )

comments

After many months of relearning some code, overhauling the entire code of my site (right down to not using Google Fonts links and instead using this....which I've just realized I didn't put it in the resources section....OH WELL), and finally being content with responsive look + gallery section, my site's update has been done!

(Viy after spending sleepless nights on one thing, and expecting to do the same in a couple of hours after some sleep, colorized, 2022.)

Imagine how busy I was that I didn't even notice the comments left on my guestbook! Thank you <3

The other big thing I have is that I have about four pages left to ink on my one-shot...god, I'm so close and I need to try to finish tones and lettering this weekend. I'm not too worried about the tones, but the lettering always takes me so long because my brain hyperfocuses on how one bubble and one piece of dialogue looks for ten hours...hopefully I can force myself to letter and move on with "good enough."

The other thing I'm quite proud of right now, after three days of waiting if I hated it, is the cover to said one-shot. I already had the logo ready months ago, but I couldn't figure out what to do for the cover. I originally had the two mains in the ~throes of ecstasy~ but clothed but I didn't like it much, really. Something about it felt too....sleazy? Which is high-larious, because it's all sleaze but there's levels to it? The idea I had was more along the lines of "phoned in" more than sleazy, I guess.

This one though, nah, this one is high brow sleaze.

I was sorely tempted to go for low-hanging fruit a la hentai and have some post-coitus LIQUID SLEAZE on her, but I felt like that would have turned away people who could read the synopsis or tagline ("what if there was tentacle porn but with all girls, instead, including the tentacle?"), and slightly gave away something about the story....( which I just kinda did, oh well )

So I opted for the during-coitus (?) JUICY SLEAZE. Tried to make it more visible but I like that you might have to blink twice to notice it too. :D

What else....ehhh, I don't know.

comments
